  01

In recent years, the pressures placed upon students in schools and university is increasing and they are pushed to work hard from a young age. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

Aconsiderable proportion of students and their parents, in this present-day society, cannot help from complaining that students aresuffering from incredible stress in schools and colleges. It seems that they only focus on some possibly adverse outcomes of pressure, but ignore the potential advantages.

First, almost all students in this day and age are being surrounded by awhole variety of distractions like online games and hit TV dramas. For instance, students of a young age often lack self-control, which implies that their study can be more negatively impacted. Pressuregiven by their teachers or parents is able to greatly help them getrid of those unnecessary disturbances. Further more, under properpressure, those students can be highly motivated and their study efficiency can be substantially enhanced.

On top of this, students studying under constant pressure can gain skills to cope with stress. Those skills will certainly play irreplaceable and significant roles in their future life and career.Without any doubt, every student will finally go out into the world and will be confronted with far more stress than they used to face inschool. At that point, there is not enough time for them to getaccustomed to it, unless they have already been trained for living with pressure.

Contrarily, excessive pressure will definitely bring those students some unwelcomed results such as insomnia, anxiety and even depression. Infact, both teachers and parents can control students’ level of stress, and assist them to relieve the stress scientifically andreasonably. Admittedly, neither studying in a pressure-freeenvironment nor an undue pressure environment is a rational choicefor students.

In summary, students will meet pressure in their lives sooner or later,so being plagued by a certain amount of stress in schools and colleges seems more acceptable and positive for students as they can tackle all of the hardships with useful guidance from teachers andparents. If not, how arduous their future life might be is beyond ourimagination.

Some scientists believe that intelligent life forms may exist on other planets and some want to send message to contact them. Others think it is a bad idea because these life forms may be too dangerous. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Scientistsin some space research institutes have been sending messages to some corners of universe since the time that they were able to do that. However, the possible consequences of doing so, seemingly, have not been carefully analyzed yet.

Primarily, building connection with other intelligent species with humans'current technology does require an incredibly high cost. This is tosay, tremendous funding ought to be utilized for related technology research and the establishment of some certain facilities, instead ofbeing used for solving some livelihood problems on the earth. Eventhough mankind is trying to set up a connection with aliens who areliving several light years away and are obviously less civilized withless advanced technology, due to the limited space technology that humans currently have, we would be able to do nothing further.Investing billions of dollars for saying hi to someone who might not understand at all is definitely not a wise decision.

Worse still, unknown creatures that receive humans' greetings may be more advanced and intelligent than inhabitants of the earth. What will happen at that time is more likely to be what people often see inscience fiction movies nowadays. “The White House” is being attacked and Air Force One is shot down by missiles from unidentifiedflying objects". Intelligent species might not be willing toco-exist peacefully or harmoniously with other creatures whose civilization apparently lags way behind. Their greed drives them touse war to make the earth their colony offering whatever they needfrom this planet. If that happened, humans would be extinct, and theonly survivors would live their lives in the zoos of those aliens.

As it is mentioned above, possible outcomes of sending message to unknown life forms somewhere in the universe are what we humans cannot afford, nor what we cannot accept. Therefore, space technologyis not what we should spend money on, as paying for the risks is never worth it.
